Right about now I should have my guys lined up headed to the infield, stretching my hammies and putting on my pads, perhaps even telling a joke or two to loosen up my driver. The guy sitting in the rocket ship on the back road waiting to go out on to the track, the man the driver, the sandy haired rebel boy, or what ever the hell that guy saddled him with. The fury of pit carts and bodies about to pour out onto pit road as the track lights come up and we get ready to set up for the potential pit stop.BUT.No I sit here at home watching "Setup" on speed and doing my first blog of the season. The reason is because our cars don't run all that well in the rain. The sky opened up while we were setting up the car for the first practice and that was it, we are done until next Thursday.
The sky opened up while we were setting up the car for the first practice and that was it, we are done until next Thursday. What have we done since then, for us we had three bad finishes. Now ok, the car came home in one piece and well that used to be enough, but now we need more.So A quick recap, we took a top 10 car, and made a few too many adjustments and put it out to lunch, hey it happens.Bringing it back means more then 50 trips over the scales, we worked hard, I wrote an excel work book with formulas to do calculations for us.So with all this technology and lots of hard work we think we are ready. The following week we ended up blowing out a brake line, after a hard night of designing a replacement piece (not nearly as easy, or interesting as it sounds) and went out for the feature.
The following week we ended up blowing out a brake line, after a hard night of designing a replacement piece (not nearly as easy, or interesting as it sounds) and went out for the feature. This is where I made a rookie mistake, and ended up costing us a good finish, I didn't check the correct fluid reservoir and so that introduced air into the lines and made the car hard to stop.We pitted under caution to bleed the brakes and that was fun, we even had a nice fire going for a second, but that didn't make the problem go away.We found and fixed this problem after a disappointing finish.?The following week, the tires were old, and the adjustment we made turned the car to the tight side towards the end of the race.Leading up to this week, where the changes we made, should make the car near perfect. So that's it, the motor is almost done, the car should be in great shape when it gets the motor, so I'm looking forward to the next few weeks, where we kick ass and take names.
