| Greetings readers; It took me a long time to understand that criticism is what keeps you objective and aware of qualities and opinions outside of your own anus.With that in mind, a hard pill for me to swallow recently was that there is some truth in EVERY criticism.A critique should not be received as "hateration" but that the person giving the critique has thought enough of you to take the time to discriminate and deliberate over the details of the presentation.To deny people the right to critique creates a very unique self defense mechanism which you began to label as the right to be "YOU".If you decide to share "you" with everyone, then everyone has a right to share a piece of their mind with you.Look deeper than a rebuke or critique, there may be some truth there that may hurt you, but in the end will help you be a more rounded artist or person.Artistic discipline includes the ability to maturely and graciously receive a critique.Destroy the cynicism in your mind concerning another perspective and add that twist to your paradigm so that the next time you create you incorporate the thought patterns of others, not to please them but to consider "that eye" or "that ear" as well.I mean, that's only if you wanna be the best at what you do.The greatest teacher is the greatest student.I'm still in class.Humbly submitted,Ton3x |
