| My friend Lavendar_Roses, posted a True or False blog a couple days ago. Then after giving people a day to mull over the statements and wonder which ones were true and which ones were false, she posted the answers...So here's my version on this game...I posted these statements yesterday and today I give you the answers...1) I've lived my entire life in Missouri
False.I was born in southern california and lived their until 1978 when we moved to Missouri.I've also spent a few years living in Illinois, including a 6 week span in Chicago.2) I've never been arrested.False.In 1998, I was charged with passing a bad check.I was unable to make restitution by the initial deadline set by the prosecuting attorney's office and the warrant was issued.I surrendered on the warrant, paid restitution, fines, and served 2 years probation.3) I flunked out of college
True.I was a straight A student in high school, but my little small town high school failed to adequately prepare me for college.I struggled with my grades that first year and then took some time off to work.A few years later I went back and tried again, but I just couldn't hack it.I left with a GPA somewhere around 1.3 I think.4) I used to work in a strip club.True.But before you start to lose your appetite, I'll tell you that I worked as a DJ.Yeah, my clothes stayed on.Mostly.(well, there was this one time I mooned a dancer, but that's another story...)5) I can play a musical instrument
False.Unless you count Air instruments, I'm pretty much useless with an actual musical instrument in my hands.6) I have met country music star Sara Evans
True.December 1996, prior to the release of her first CD, I met her at a local bar on karaoke night. She was just as sweet as anyone I'd ever met.7) I have done stand up comedy.True.In 1986, I performed on open mic nights at the Funny Bone Comedy Clubs in St Louis (South County & Westport).I also took my act to a local talent competition and won 2nd place!Interestingly enough, one of my jokes that I came up with for my act, was stolen by a traveling comedian who used it on the Tonight Show, back in the days of Johnny Carson.I don't remember who the comedian was, so if he had to base his act on stealing other people's material, then he couldn't have been all that funny I guess...8) I was once the target of an attempted kidnapping.Sadly, this is true.Living in southern California, I was around 11 or 12 years old at the time, and I was walking home from flag football practice after school one evening.A car pulled up next to the sidewalk and this woman made a motion from the drivers seat to come over there.I just stopped and looked at her like wtf??and she got out of the car and said I was supposed to come with her.She grabbed my arm and since I didn't know who she was, I did the first thing I could think of - I kicked her in the shins and ran all the way home.Literally. |
| Literally.Probably about a mile or so, but I didn't stop for nothing, except a red stop light at a majorly busy intersection.I told my parents what happened and they called the police.I don't know if she was ever caught (they didn't ask me for a detailed description, but I did give my parents a brief description). It wasn't until about 20 years later or so that I learned what may have been behind that incident.A year or two before that time, my mom and dad had separated and my sister and I moved with my mom to Missouri. This was when I was 10 and in 4th grade. While we were gone, my dad had started dating someone who turned out to have some drug connections. My dad ended up being an informant at the time and some of these people ended up in jail.Well, the thought was that the kidnap attempt was an act of retalliation.Nothing else happened to us after that, although when my dad told me about all this, it was because he thought the people that had been put away might be getting out of jail around that time.We were no longer anywhere near California at that time, but he wanted us to know what had happened in case there were any mysterious events happening to our family.9) I smoked during my teenage years.False.I have never smoked anything in my life. Not even a ham.10) I have played professional baseball.False.Though if you look in my photo section, I do have my very own baseball card!11) I was once asked to be in a professional pornographic movie.OK, this one is.....True.After we moved away from St Louis, my first wife and I were contacted by an old friend of ours from St Louis who was making porn movies of amateurs and selling them to a marketing company for professional production. We agreed and went through with the filming, but for some reason, nothing recorded.I briefly suspected he might be lying to us about that, but in the years since then nothing ever surfaced that I know of.If it does, there will be a lawsuit because we never signed any type of release.I figure we may have broke the camera...12) I have a tattoo somewhere on my anatomy.False.I do want to get a tattoo someday, and it will likely be on my upper back, near the shoulder. But that day has not yet arrived.13) I have met Nascar driver Carl Edwards
True! Our car broke down one day taking my youngest son to school and he and his girlfriend stopped to offer assistance. We had help on the way so he took me and my son on to the school and then drove me back to the car. This was when he was still racing on local tracks, before he started driving in Nascar, and we've been fans of his ever since.14) I am fluent in Spanish
False.Sure, I can count to 5, and I know a few words, but that's about it.15) My first job was working as a fire fighter. This one is True. When I was still in high school, I worked as hourly, on-call help with the Missouri Dept of Conservation during fire season.I would sit in the truck with my Uncle Audie and we would wait for the calls. When a call would come in, we would drive out to the scene of the fire (almost always grass fires, never structure fires and I was never sent in amongst burning trees) and I would work the perimeter of the fire with a rake to keep it from spreading.So...Anyone surprised by these? |
