Sweeny Todd & No Country for Old Men
So its getting to be that time again.?The movie industry is giving out their plethora of?awards.?So I'm trying to catch up with some of the movies they're all tallking about.Sweeny Todd...Well, since I've been in love?with Johnny Depp?(from afar)?(sighs) ?for many moons now ...of course I enjoyed it..He sings pretty good....and the makeup was all freaky and cool.?They used a lot of shades of blue and greys on sets and costumes. The cast was awesome.....but I did have to cover my eyes repeatedly and I do mean repeatedly?'cause they spared no expense?on the?theater blood...WOW....They sure did use a lot of it.?They must have bought Gallons of it!???They weren't kidding around.Blood Blood Blood Blood...Lots and Lots!?The blood itself became kind of comedic.?What little I actually?saw of it.This is NOT now nor will it?ever be?for a young audience, I suppose that goes with out saying. The second movie was?'No Country for Old Men'.?Oh My!?What can I say??Hummmmm...Gratuitous Violence,?then more Gratutious Violence, and then some more Gratutious Violence just in case maybe you missed?some earlier.?Yuck!??But lets get past that.Well, lets see.?Tommy lee Jones, another favorite actor, very talented man.?I kinda felt for his character as Sheriff.?He never could save the people he was trying to save, he never did catch the bad guy, by the end of the movie he looked so?old and tired.?Like somehow he lost something..I don't know! The cinematography was excellent, and all the actors gave very good and believeable preformances. But, I will say that?Bad Guy, played by Javier Bardem, was indeed a very bad guy!?Psychopath criminal.?An?extremely memorable bad guy.?The antagonist is?such a key role in a story?like?this,?????and Javier's performance was flawless as far as I could tell.?What would Star Wars have been without Darth Vader or Silence of the Lambs be without Hannibal Lectar?I'm pretty sure people are gonna remember Javier's "Anton Chigurh".Oh Yeah.I've read other reviews and I guess its a commentary on the violence in our society or some such thing like that.?And they all loved it.?I can't say I loved it, But I won't forget it.?It was a stand out film, definitely not mediorcre.?And definetly not for the faint of heart.?
