Summer time and the living is easy.
Today I completed my final exams for the Spring 2008 semester.?The days to come will afford me free time like have not known in nearly a year.?The 8 hour days I will be working will almost seem like a day off.?Leaving work at 5pm feels like I am getting off early.?My schedule over the past month has seen class beginning at 8AM and my workday ending at 7PM, with no real break in between.?Such hours take a toll on the body. The free time afforded me this summer, will be quite busy, but doing things I enjoy.?I will continue to review my Spanish notes, listen to Spanish CDs and occasionally turn the radio dial to La Buena.??One reason for this is that I must continue my Spanish studies in the Fall.?Also, knowing a second language is a great thing.?It gives one an edge in the marketplace and?stimulates the mind in various ways.??I can't quite explain it, but it is rewarding. My other free hours will see a return to my first love: film making.?I will be undertaking two projects this summer.?I am putting the final touches on the planning stages of both.?I continue to have trouble finding necessary locations for a few key scenes and a vehicle.?Anybody know an old country house I can use or know of an older model suped up 4x4??If so, I will be very grateful if you share such locations/vehicles with me. My evenings will also involve another great joy of mine: running.?I've all ready started running again and I am all ready feeling the benefits.?Tonight I ran the longest I have since last year and made it a little further up "Titan".?I've also added jumping rope to my?fitness regimen.?I am halfway training for?the Mission Ridge Road Race in August.?It is nearly 5 miles long.?Even if I am not?physically prepared when that day comes, the?training I do ahead of time will be?beneficial. The only travels I have planned this?summer?is a trip to Albuquerque in August.?I?have never?visited this?southwest so I am anxious to explore this part of the country.?There is also a trail there that is said to be quite a strenuous hike.?I hope to?hike it.?Finally, my "free time" will be further consumed with reading.?But instead of reading about Civil War generals and their blunders or successes or Andersonville Prison or the endless pages of class notes, ?I will be reading?outdated spy novels (I love them), the Time Life WWII series from the 1970s or whatever strikes my fancy because I have time to read again!?Summer won't officially begin for almost two months, but for me, it is all ready here.
