| PEACE STARTS HERE AND NOW!I often feel a sense of helplessness like just about everyone else after watching the doomsday news at night.To look at the state of the world through the eyes of those that hunger for more misery, I just want to zone out and pretend it?s all a bad dream.The problem lies in the fact that I am not sleeping so a dream is not likely.?No, it?s real but the part missing is hope.The news doomsdayers leave out the power we all pocess within ourselves to take action and envision a better world.I then find myself saying, okay Alex, lets get real here.?What can one person do that will really make a difference.Leave that to the famous who have more money and exposure to reach far more people than me. That?s about the time I feel some inner slap from a higher power that wants me to wake up and grow up.?It is a cop out and unfair to expect only those who are in the public eye to do all the work while the rest of us numb ourselves and zone out from our responsibility to do our part.Okay, that all sounds?great, I say to myself, but now what do I do and who really cares what I have to say??Well, after some careful thought, I am pretty sure I care for one.Then, there might be one or two others who care and if they have one or two others that care, on and on, suddenly a lot of people care.However, that is not possible if I keep it hidden inside and refuse to do whatever I can do to bring about more peace and love.I have been in an elected postion and done my duty, but mostly just screamed and yelled at what I thought to be morons who abused their power and lied to their constituents.Was that peace or love?It didn?t feel like it and I wasn?t particularly happy with myself as I did it for four years.I suffered through threats against me and intimidations that were unnerving to say the least.?At the end of it all, many had heard my message but then I still felt empty because I knew I could have had so much more of an impact had I?come from a place of love and peace.More people would have been open to hearing my message against injustice and abuse of power.I spent?a good while healing and putting my hands in the dirt.I found peace just planting flowers, shrubs, bushes and trees, and miraculously, I felt more peaceful.That is when so many I thought had forgotten I even existed were finding me and thanking me. Why then?I was in a place of peace and love and therefore, much more approachable and believable.It came from me first.The past year I ended a fifteen year relationship, entered another one too quickly?where I was treated?like filth,?had one of my sisters die unexpectedly as well as face possible financial ruin.I was frozen with fear and almost paralyzed when I remembered that place inside myself where peace could be had at any time, any place, under any condition.I reached for it and with complete faith, got up and went right back out into the world to face my fears.?One by one they?began resolving themselves.?Again, it started from inside of me first.?????I started to think if it starts inside me and that allows it to reach others and therefore spreads further and further then I needed to start taking my own life.?I would need to?work hard to come from a place of creating more peace and love in all I do and toward all I meet.That is when I started to create this site and it has really started to create itself now.I just try to come from that peaceful place inside as the starting point.?A woman who has done amazing work to create the idea of striving for peaceful resolutions prior to jumping off into battle as the first option is Marianne Williamson.?We first met a number of years ago before she started writing?books?and lecturing only.She also?started Project Angel Food in Los Angeles and worked hard as one person reaching out to others to join her, creating miracles as a result.?She has been working for years to urge our government officials to create a Dept. of Peace, not to replace the Dept. of Defense, but to have a government Dept. which researches and strives to find peaceful resolutions to world conflicts before rushing off into war.It has spread in ways I am sure she has not imagined.She has been invited to ?speak before foreign governments about this idea.It is truly amazing.?Of course such an idea does not happen overnight.It takes time for such a dream to bloom full out,?but it has continuously spread and grown into a much larger grass roots effort than many thought possible.??And to think it all began in the mind of one woman who acted on her vision.?That is what happens when ideas and action come from the heart and soul of we mere humans.I want to invite everyone to go to www.thepeacealliance.org and check it out.Pick just one of the things they suggest can be done to help this effort and then imagine what difference that makes when you then share it with at least two friends that do the same.?I am asking all of my friends, whether you are involved already in this effort or not, famous or not, rich or poor, an activist or couch potatoe to do this.Lets all stop pretending we can make the world?s problems go away by expecting a few to solve them or by just tuning out and pretending we live in some kind of invulnerable universe.?From that peaceful and loving place in me I ask that place in each of you to join together in creating true miracles one by one by one...ALEX PRINCE |
