| Wow, been a long time since i blogged !...trying not to blog angry anymore !, I'm kinda over that (and my spelling is going to be really bad this morning since i'm kinda sleep hazy)
Anthony (from the old neighborhood) came in the office yesterday, he needed a little help with him and his brothers, which I helped?them a few years back.?He and two of his brothers live in row houses now in "west" aliquippa (explain?this uniquie mill town later), they were considered the "earlier" generation in our neighborhood, being somewhat older than me and my friends.?My boss sat and talked with him which she later came out and said,"They watched out for you younger guys ?"....I'm laughing...like getting beer for us when we were underage ?....lolbut they did big time...not what I would call angels themselves !...my dad usued to bitch at Anthony to get his life together !(my dad's done this with alot of people, it never worked on me)...yesterday Anthony said to me "who could have thought i would become the responsible one !"....dad would be happy about this comment?Anyways, even though my dad bitched at?them all the time, they always had respect for him, as we all did towards each other parents !...there were no?execeptions !...you never insulted each others parents even if you never took their advice...lolAlot of?Anthonty;s ?"generation" spent their early years in "west" which was largely italian, and their parents moved to our little sudivision to get them out of the "row house" style town, also my great uncle built our plan which they trusted him because he was related to my mom....so they wouldn't get screwed overAnthony and me got up to speed on people we still keep in thouch with, he told me Dan's brother (Dan is the one I have "non-official" godfathership of their recent child) has an older brother who hung out with anthony and hasn't keep in touch with over recent years, I told him?"I would get on it, and find out, from Dan"...lolThen my boss asked how his father was doing and then his mom, I later kinda felt uncomfortable when she said this because his mother died like ten years ago, I know it doesn't?bother him, but sometimes you just?want to head off this kinda question, she also asked how close we lived to each other, Anthony was like three doors down !...my boss is kinda perplexed by this since when I said our neighboorhood was close she didn't realize that meant "real close"Anyways ( alot of?anyways today), my boss (who anthony and his brothers supported during her election, because "they don't forget"...another common theme)....yea, and a little note to people who are "idealistic" about politics, if someone in govt goes way out of their way to help you, it would be kinda nice to back them in an election, no matter who is against them (in this case, a relative)...not to mention they told?their relative "frank is our boy, and we take care of him"....and as usual, my dad told everyone in the neighborhod who to vote for, but just in local elections !...not presidental or anything !....because I noticed with some people I go way past my job description to help, then they told me they were voting for someone else....great, It's my just "MY?FUCKING JOB" , hope you get this service next time if we lose !Side Story:?My birthday present of an engraved zippo for my friend Doug came in the mail and i dropped it off at his house yesterday, he read the inscription and said "this is fucking hardcore dude, going back to the neighborhood and shit, my brother is going to dig this !, I told him it was for 40 years of service...lol....so his brother is?going to have to wait for his 40th birthday !...and we established a 7:00 am coffee appt.for saturday, like we usued to do (Doug has sleep probs too and will be up)....Wow , guess I'm going to wrap this up, I know these ones can be kinda boring but I write it to remember my "growing up" and how great it was (not really the leave it beaver type), and how my friend's kids will never know this, my sister even told me, our cousin, who fears their son will never have this sense of "community" or whatever, is priceless....to have lifelong friends that you could still count on regardless?any situation !...it's very rare, and I'm glad I know them all !? |
