| Here we go again....another political outrage of the week.Every week, we can count on someone saying something that will require an apology, a denouncement or clarification of statement. One fact for sure is this tiresome run for the Whitehouse proves that our presidential elections are entirely too long.We should just remove the facade and realize we are not choosing a president with the best qualifications for the job.We are looking for that person who can win the popularity contest. With all of the issues that need our urgent attention, all we can do is be outraged about the words coming out of someone's mouth.Yet many of these outraged people complain that Hillary Clinton is calculating and triangulates to an issue.Seems to me she's giving what the people wants or is it what the media wants?Day after brain numbing day, I listen to the pundits talk about how the American people are outraged about this or that. Why don't we try something new?How about not having a consultant from XYZ news on?Go on the streets and ask the American people what they want.I'm sure they would say to report more on the following issues and not some made up outrage by a bored press corps.1.March Foreclosures Jump 57% As Housing Woes Continue
2.Gas prices set record, oil moves higher
3.Retailing Chains Caught in a Wave of Bankruptcies
4.Airline Whistle-Blowers Were Ignored
5.U.S. Probably Lost Jobs for Third Month as Economy Weakened
6.Time for candidates to address U.S. debt and deficit
When I watched the clip of Chris Matthews show "Hardball" about the latest outrage...that Obama is an elitist, I could only shake my head. There's no need for me to comment on it.When you watch this, I'm pretty sure you'll come to the same conclusion that I did.In this case, video speaks louder than any words I can write.Hardball Video on Media Matters
One really has to wonder where they come up with the material.Let's run down what two years of campaigning for the White House gets us:
1.Obama's not black enough
2.Now he's too black or he wouldn't have gotten where he is...at least according to Geraldine Ferraro and billionaire founder of BET Bob Johnson.3.He's unpatriotic
4.He's a racist ( Jeremiah Wright controversy)
5.And the latest, he's an elitist.A person who worked as a community organizer in Chicago helping people in need...an elitist. The wheels are falling off the tracks this election year.If Rod Sterling were alive today, he would probably wish he had written an episode of the Twilight Zone based on this bid for the White House.Obama Embraced Church Due To Social Action
Obama Lumps 'Elitism' Slams with 'Political Silly Season'
I wish people would read more about the issues themselves and stop being spoon fed what to think every night in front of the television.I hope by November, the voters will decide that this is not a popularity contest.Maybe enough of us will wake up and figure we need to vote for the person with the best qualifications for the job.I could really care less if a president can take a shot of whisky, drink beer with the boys, hunt, fish, surf, ride in a tank, ski?or bowl. One more article on the subject by CNN's Roland Martin on the "elitist" non issue.Commentary: An 'average' American will never be president |
