Spring is finally here, happy days are back,
time for daylight baseball under blue skies, with cold beer.Spring is always an optimistic time for new hopes,
and to finally realize dreams.I can still hear Ernie saying back in '69
THE CUBS WILL SHINE!!!But of course Cub fans endured much the same old thing.But every spring, my hopes get renewed and it's easier to believe,
that this will be the year they will win it all...and World Series rings they'd receive.Life is just all about having something to hope for,
and a reason to strive and achieve
?
for something for yourself, and maybe someone else,
giving them a reason to believe.Mr. Cub, Ernie Banks never won it all
yet his legacy should always read

I have loved the Chicago Cubs probably not as long or passionately as some.I didn't actually grow up in Chicago.I was raised approximately 55 miles east in Indiana.But Chicago television is what I grew up on, and Chicago sports teams everyone in my neighborhood dearly loved.Sandlot baseball we all grew up playing, and each of us had a favorite Cubs player.I wasn't like most, I didn't hate the White Sox.I loved them too!You see, hardcore Chicago fans either loves one and despises the other.:0)
But every spring for me as a child was special because after enduring a harsh winter living off the coast of Lake Michigan, finally the snow would melt and it was time to play baseball.This poem reflects something in my life I will always embrace as valuable to the building of my character.Life is all about having a hope, and a dream to pursue.May you always pursue yours. |
