| so, I am here in Auckland. The plane ride was long and I'm jetlaged.I hate LAX for having $9 crap for sandwiches. It took 12 hours from L.A., luckly I sat by a nice Irish lad named Burshey. We had a jolly ole time.Parnell is whereI spent the fist night. It's a nice little suburb in Auckland, not at all like a typical suburb in the U.S. I took thebus to?the city and wondered into Ponsonby which has a bunch of shops and restaurants. The thirsy dog was an ok pub.I had a nz lager, I forget the name.I also found some great "op shops", which are second hand stores. Not quite as cheap as our thrift stores, but I got some cheap records.Today I took the ferry out to Davenport, which is also an Auckland suburb.I had some exellent coffee at a cafe calledSierra. This little tour van took my jetlaged ass to North Head and Mt. Victoria. The top had lovely views of?aucklandThe tourguide was really nice as were two girls from Queenstown. From Davenport I took another Ferry to Waihekee Island, where I am at the moment. The people at the hostel are superlaid back.I'm finding it a problem to walk anywhere here, because I'm not in shape and everything is uphill is seemslike.I've been getting quite a workout.I took the bus out to onetagi beach which was beautiful, the drunk lady on bus said I was gonna get lost.I alomost did, but the couple at the bus stop led me in the right direction.I stopped for some beer and food in Onereroa. The beach?was great there as well.I had very expensive nachos, but met the most interesting couple. They were the nicest, drunkest people.Simon gave literally a list of numbers of people to stay with in different places. As well as their place in Christchurch. What lovely people those two.Today is Thursday and I'm in Piha, my favorite place so far.Yesterday was a crazy day.So, a shuttle picked me upfrom the ferry back from Waihekee.I rode with a woman named Amanda. She was on her way to visit her ex and his girlfriend.Once we get there I loose her for a bit.A couple of hours later I run into her with some otherpeople, so I joined them for some wine.My original plan was to go back to the city, but Amanda and her friends insistedI stay with them.Steve and David are this gay coulple who live right up the mountain. They've been so good to me. Their house is beautiful and has amazing views of Piha beach. These are the nicest people you will ever meet, I'm soamazed by their generosity.I have a room and a bathroom all to myself, which is a nice break from hostels. To top things off, the weather is perfect! |
