Competition is "Healthy" for the soul. |
| Ok, now I know I'm not crazy and I've been in this business too long not to know when someone out and out copies your product if not your idea.Which is not really a problem if you keep the fact that you "adapted" the thought, process, idea and or product to yourself or a select few.which is what I did with someone on my friends list.?They promised to send me a sample of their product and I waited and waited for about 2 months and then I said "screw it" I made my own and only one other person knows about it.?I haven't even put the them on the web site as I don't feel the need to "compete" in the same market...even though mine are "naughty" not "nice" tee hee.so with that said, I post tutorials, and pictures for people to become inspired by me and that's what I love.?The sharing that we do.?Look at the "DRAGON CAKE TUTORIAL " that Becky on my friend list posted.??
I'm thinking it was some "mystery" instruction and it's an adaptation of something I used to sell in my bakery in the late 80's!!what is different is HER interpretation and how beautiful HER Dragon turns out.?We used to make them as Dinosaurs, because at that time that was the in thing that boys liked.A few months ago it came to my attention that there was an article about Fergie from the Black Eyed Peas sending Alanis Morrisette a "butt" cake for doing a cover of Fergie's "HUMPS" song and they posted my picture:as the cake that was sent.?Nice, but no...it wasn't my cake and I got no credit for it.When I went to check out the newspaper article online it was unavailable. Then I get an update on VaCakeDiva and she has posted:I am tickled pink! It's an awesome cake and she posted that she did the spine trick because of me!?This chica is decorating cakes left and right and growing by leaps and bounds!?She also used my tilted cake tutorial to make a cake and gave me the thumbs up.?She has NEVER ever come across with an attitude, anything I've ever asked her...straight from the begining she has always graciously answered and has always impressed me with her creativity!Check out her MYSPACE page, she does those candy wrappers without any software!?I have the software, lol.?I'm lazy!and computer spastic at times. Then there is Paula, she doesn't keep up with her my space page but we always communicate via Yahoo instant messenger, and I am confident in her talent and friendship that if she ever needed to "borrow" one of my photos to send one of her clients that she knows it's ok to do so.Everyone has someone that "INSPIRES" them.?For me, it's an erotic bakery in Sugarland, Texas!?http://www.nookyseroticbakery.com
The Gothic Black and white cake on my web site is a tribute to them:Nooky's Version:a much nicer cake, but my spikes are boobies!lol
?
and they copied my BUKAKE cake, their version:My version:and now they have the cupcakes...This is just "STANDARD" practice in our field.?If I could I would work for them in a heartbeat!( my son want's to go so I will finish this another time.) |
