| On New Year's Eve, in the midst of drinking fine wine and eating lovingly prepared food, we watched Rudolph's Shiny New Year.Maybe I'd seen it before in passing, maybe not.It didn't look all that familiar. In case you haven't watched this one, the storyline is similar to Rudolph's storyline.Baby New Year is born with huge, jug-handle ears. The teasing gets to him.Sorry, ladies, but Baby New Year seems to be male, just like Father Time.We have work to do in this area.Anyway, the boy Baby New Year takes off for parts unknown.A female Baby New Year might have contacted a good hair stylist to camouflage that flaw, but the male Baby New Year decides to get out of Dodge.Everything turns out okay in the end, but there's a harrowing part where it looks as if there will be NO NEW YEAR.We would have been permanently stuck on December 31st.That's Stephen King-type scary stuff.I love New Years!Love putting up a new calendar with all its promise!I want 2008, and I want it now!Fortunately, 2008 has arrived.Books to be written, books to be read, conferences to attend, readers to meet, fun to be had.I am so ready for 2008, and I know you are, too.Bring it on! |
