AI Top 4 Performance Night - I Wanna Rock and |
| Top 4 performing tonight...Songs from the rock and roll hall of fame week...I gave song spoilers earlier tonight, lets see how accurate they were...Incidentally, anyone see the dolls on ebay made in the likenesses of the Idols?I didn't think the one said to be David Cook looked much like him, but the Jason and David A dolls werre pretty good.Didn't see one for Syesha.Nice of Ryan to let the judges know when they are supposed to critique the performers tonight, since they are doing 2 songs each again.Up first - David Cook and Hungry Like the Wolf by Duran Duran.He seems to be doing this one straight; didn't really change it up any, but I liked it and I think David's fans will love it.Nice to know Paula was left hungry for more.Syesha Mercado is next, and Proud Mary is her song choice.My initial thought is that she should nail this one to the wall.Does that put her at a disadvantage if she doesn't?I really thought she should have gone home weeks ago, but she's come on strong the last few, despite a trip to the bottom 2 last week.This song isn't bad and she is definitely a performer.I think I might have preferred she leave the slow start out of it, but it wasn't bad.Simon however, thought otherwise.Interesting comment from her though.Tonight she says she's having fun being herself, but a couple of weeks ago she was more comfortable being someone else.Hmmm.So which is it?There is a Carly Smithson sighting and next up we have Jason singing I Shot the Sheriff.He looks the Bob Marley type, can he match the sound?I don't know if its his arrangement or what, but it feels like something is missing from it.Was it a missed line?Guess we'll find out later. |
| Guess we'll find out later.The judges seemed to feel the same way.Or maybe they were just rallying his fans...David Archuleta is doing Stand By Me...He's talented and has a great voice, but what I feared tonight with him is exactly what he is doing now...sounding very karaoke-ish to me. Lets see what the judges think.The judges either disagreed with me, or they sugarcoated it very well.But I do agree that his performance was better than Jason's.?
On to round two and back to David Cook...Baba O'Reilly by the Who; when I saw the song spoilers tonight, I got excited to see this one on the list cause David is going to rock the house with this one.He changed it up as he is known to do, by slowing it down a bit...and I think it works, but lets see if he builds to the big finish...not as big as I would have liked to see him do, but yeah...great job with it as I expected.Can't wait to hear the full length version of the song.Syesha is coming back with A Change is Gonna Come by Sam Cooke.Her powerful voice handles it well, but ya know...I'm just not really into Syesha.Considering her results the last few weeks, as good as she's sounded, I think her safety hinges on Jason's next performance tonight.Speaking of Jason, he is sticking with the Bob's as he puts it and doing Hey, Mr. Tamborine man. This seems to be more of his element.I may be wrong, but it seemed to me that he completely forgot a line and replace the words with some odd sounds.But give him credit because he kept going.And tomorrow, he may get to keep on going...right on off the stage.?How strong is his fan base?We will find out tomorrow.And finally, David A is back to close out the show tonight.I read that he is doing the Norah Jones version of Love Me Tender rather than the Elvis version.At this point, I think he could probably get away with doing a William Shatner version and still survive into next week.And this song was much much better than his first performance tonight.So...how do we end up tomorrow night?Who will go into the final 3 next week with Clive Davis as the guest judge (I'm just guessing here, since traditionally, that is how the final 3 have gone).?
