| Last month, I was all about the deadline.?This month, I'm in the next cycle of working out new story ideas.?Each is its own kind of craziness, and I love both modes powering through to finish the WIP and dreaming up what will eventually become the WIP that will, once again, throw me into I-don't-have-time-for-anything-else immersion.In this dreaming phase, I do have time for other stuff, and thank goodness, or I would have no friends left.?I also have time for painting.?No, not the kind you hang on a wall and brag about.?The kind where you use a roller and a trim brush, and hope that the color that looked good on the swatch isn't hideous once you've covered your entire stair well in it.In theory, I should be able to work out plot points while I paint.?In practice, I don't think any of that's going on.?I can't remember having a single aha!moment while painting.?I've had a few oh, s**t moments, like when I absentmindedly tipped the paint tray and spilled a plate-sized puddle of Simply White on the simply brownish tile floor.I'd like to tell you that I tipped the paint tray while I was contemplated my next hero, who may or may not be a shapeshifter.?Not so.?I tipped the paint tray while wiping a drip on the opposite side of the tray.?I'm not the most coordinated painter in the world.But I do have a painting tip for you!?Instead of pouring paint from the can into the roller tray, use a plastic ladle.?Or a metal one, if that's all you can find.?In any case, you'll have less mess, unless you tip the tray, which has been known to happen.?This is a special VLT tip that you won't see anywhere else.I hope you're all having a glorious fall and looking forward to the holidays.?I am!?And I'm happy to report that the Simply White looks fabulous in the stair well.?And you can hardly tell where I spilled it on the floor.?
