A Funny Memory of My Neighborhood |
| I?remembered something?about my neighborhood the other day that I hadn't thought about in a long time.?It was?funny so I'm writing it down for posterity.Try to picture this in your mind.One day I was?sitting out on my front porch enjoying a?lovely?afternoon summer breeze for a few minutes when?this really?weird Battle of the Bands took place.I live in a house in a small city.?My neighborhood is lined with older?houses that are?quite close together.?Because everyone is so close together you can hear music coming out of?the neighbors houses in the summer when people open up their windows to let the fresh air in.So across the street and over one house, resided a family with teenage boys, brothers, who liked to hang out with their friends on the sidewalk and listen to the 'Hip Hop/Rap' music quite loud.?And on this particular day it?was no different.?They were Rapping away and the Bass was Booming.In the house directly across the street from me was a very?large family of Mexicans.?They also had a loud stereo system and turned on?that lively?Mariachi music?just as loud as they could.?It seems?that?they?were making some kind of point to the brothers.On my side of the street, right next to me lives a senior citizen couple, and the woman hails from Scotland.??I guess she'd also felt the need to make some kind of point to the brothers, and put on a CD of Bagpipe music just as loud as she could blare it.If you've never listened to a Rap/Mariachi/Bagpipe Combo blaring on your street...Well you just?don't know what your missing.Well it was all?so utterly?rediculious that I remember bursting out laughing hysterically.??And of Course not to be outdone........I?yelled into my daughter, who was in the house at the time, "Hey Jill!Put on the Barry Manilow...I wanna hear Mandy!!!"?"AND BLAST IT!!!!"Only in America! |
