| Sheep.? We saw 600 of them and who knows exactly how many newborns.? We hiked 14.6 miles on the trail we have visited over a dozen times since New Year's.This is the trail along which we have been witness to four-inch thick ice, 50 MPH wind gusts, mountain lion tracks, prairie dogs, scores of mule deer, a few elk, a wily coyote and a golden eagle dropping a snake.It is the trail along which we helped a ranger round up 70 renegade llamas.? Today we hiked past 600ish recently shorn sheep that had been corralled by an electric fence in the open space park.I bet you are taken aback.So were we, but the herder's trailer had been placed a third of a mile north of the corral, and the corral included huge watering devices, so we figured he had to have had cooperation from the park service.We assumed because we couldn't ask: the herder was busy rounding wanderers from a craggy outcrop up the hill.? So.Another unexpected and fun animal sighting.(Did I mention the newborns?Oh so cute in their universal wobbliness.Awwwwwwwwww.)? 'Twas another lovely hike, but we've decided to vacate this trail for higher elevation venues.The heat drained our energy; we were barely able to gobble our Qdoba Habanero Chicken Taco Salad before this happened: ? ? ? ?Wonderhubby testing the napping qualities of the sunroom. |
