10:07 PM - I clean up nice* |
| Pop and I spent last night, this morning, and half the afternoon cleaning our apartment.?Not as much because we had people coming over today (though that was a factor), but more because it simply needed the cleaning. The place looks pretty good now.?Not great; we still have some work to do tomorrow.?But pretty good.?It doesn't look cluttered or messy or in any way unlivable. Then all three of the friends who came over commented on how much they like the ambience in our living room.?And they're right - shelves of cool books and prints, dead flowers, and bladed weapons filling in the empty space... this place is awesome....Now let's look back about two years, when I was living in my previous apartment, not with Pop.I shared a three-bedroom apartment with two other guys.?My bedroom was a disaster area.?I frequently had to pick up dirty clothes from the floor and shake/air them out and iron them so I would have something to wear to work that day.?Intermixed with the various stages of dirty laundry were old pizza boxes, some with the mummified remains of a slice or two, mostly empty Coca-Cola 2-liter bottles that were bulging as though, somehow, botulism had taken hold, and unread issues of the New York Times, most still in their plastic delivery bag.The walls were utterly devoid of decoration.?My only furniture consisted of a futon with questionable sheets, a PlayStation 2 in the only clear spot on the floor, and a 20" television sitting on top of the box it came in.*?Oh, and I had about 20 bags from Midtown Comics, all full.I've come a long way.?This is why guys need women.?I actually like my home.?Before, I didn't even realize what that meant.?This woman has changed my life, and in every way, it's for the better.* What, you expected pics of me in a suit or something?** I know, you're wondering how a simple cardboard box could possibly hold up the weight of a 20" CRT television (I obviously couldn't afford a flat-panel LCD).?People used to ask me all the time how I kept the box from collapsing.?See, I still had the original styrofoam packing, those two big chunks that fit onto either side of the TV.?Moved a bit to the middle of the box, they held the weight of the television nicely. |
